Recording
Where is my recording?
In the Sermons tab, newest first. If you don't see it:
- Look on the device that recorded it. Recordings stay on the iPhone or iPad that made them. On your other devices the sermon still shows its transcript, notes and verses, and the player says "Audio is on the device that recorded this sermon."
- Did the app close or the phone restart while recording? Open the app. The sermon comes back marked "Recovered recording". At most the last second or two is missing.
- Search for it. Type a word from the sermon, the speaker's name, or a passage such as "Romans 8".
- Check the folders. It may be in a folder, or hidden by the Favorites filter.
- Was it deleted on another device? A sermon deleted on one device disappears from all of them.
Two things to know. Recordings do not sync through iCloud and are not in the Files app. And deleting the app from a device deletes the recordings on that device.
Does it keep recording when my screen locks?
Yes. Tap Record and put the phone down. Recording continues when the screen locks and while you use other apps. A timer shows on your Lock Screen, and a red pill shows inside the app.
What if someone calls me?
A call you don't answer normally does not interrupt the recording. If you answer, recording pauses during the call and starts again by itself when you hang up. The transcript shows where the pause was.
Does it record through my AirPods?
No. The sermon is in the room, so the app uses the iPhone's own microphone even when AirPods are connected. If you use a wired or USB microphone, choose it in Settings → Recording → Microphone.
How long can I record?
Up to 4 hours. The app warns you at 3 hours 45 minutes, then stops and saves. It needs 500 MB of free space to start, and stops and saves by itself if space runs very low.
Where should I put my phone?
Face up, as near to the speaker as you can. The screen can lock. Notes are optional.
I watch the service online. Can I still use it?
Yes. Play the stream on a TV or laptop and keep your phone near the speaker.
Transcript and verses
Why is there no transcript yet?
- It is still being made. The transcript is made on your phone after you tap Stop. An hour of audio takes some minutes. You can leave the app; it tells you when it is ready if you allowed notifications.
- "Waiting for the speech model to download." The first time you use a language, your phone downloads Apple's speech model. That needs an internet connection once. Your recording is saved in the meantime.
- "This iPhone can't transcribe this language." Some iPhones cannot transcribe some languages on the device. The recording is saved and you can listen to it.
- You are on another device. The transcript is made on the device that recorded the sermon, then appears on the others.
- One part says "Couldn't transcribe". Tap Try again on that part.
- It is in the wrong language. Open the sermon's menu, change the language, and choose Transcribe again.
A verse is wrong or missing
The app listens for Bible references the speaker says out loud. It can mishear one or miss one. In the Verses tab you can Hide a wrong verse, Change range, or Add a verse.
Which Bible translations are included?
King James Version, American Standard Version, World English Bible and Berean Standard Bible in English, and Reina-Valera 1909 in Spanish. All are in the public domain. Newer translations need a licence from their publishers and are not in this version.
A few verses show "Not in this translation". Those verses are absent from that translation itself, or it numbers them differently; then the words are under the neighboring verse number.
Study packs
Why is there no study pack on my phone?
Check these, in order.
- Study packs are part of Plus. Without Plus, the Study tab shows an example and what Plus includes. Read number 3 before you buy: on an iPhone without Apple Intelligence, Plus cannot make study packs, and the Study tab says so instead.
- The transcript has to be finished first. The study pack is made from it.
- Your iPhone needs Apple Intelligence. Study packs are made on the iPhone itself. See the next answer.
- The sermon is very short or hard to hear. The app says so instead of inventing content.
If only one part says "Couldn't create this part", tap Try again on that part.
Why can't my iPhone make study packs?
Study packs are written on your iPhone, by Apple Intelligence. The sermon is not sent anywhere to make one. So your iPhone needs three things.
- An iPhone with Apple Intelligence. That is iPhone 15 Pro or newer. Older iPhones, and the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, cannot make study packs.
- Apple Intelligence turned on. Open the Settings app on your iPhone, tap Apple Intelligence & Siri, and turn it on.
- The model downloaded. After you turn it on, the iPhone downloads Apple's model. Until that is done, the Study tab says Apple Intelligence is still getting ready.
The same goes for an iPad: it needs Apple Intelligence. A study pack made on another of your devices still appears on this iPhone through iCloud, and you can read it here.
Buying Plus does not change this: there is no other way to make a study pack. On an iPhone that cannot make study packs, the app says so before you buy anything. The Study tab explains it above the See Plus plans button, and the screen with the prices says it above the prices. On that iPhone, Plus adds importing audio. It also opens the small-group guide and the devotional reminders for study packs made on your other devices.
Can I trust what the study pack says?
It is written by AI from what the speaker said, so it can contain mistakes. Bible verses are the exception: the verse text always comes from the Bible in the app, never from AI. You can edit any part. If a summary gets the sermon wrong, please tell us.
Plus and billing
What is free and what is Plus?
Free: recording, the transcript, verses, notes, photos, the player, search, sync, the Bible, and exporting your own notes and transcript.
Plus: study packs, the devotional and its reminders, the small-group guide, and importing audio files and podcast episodes.
Study packs, and the devotional and small-group guide that come from them, need an iPhone with Apple Intelligence: iPhone 15 Pro or newer. Importing audio does not.
You can buy Plus on any iPhone or iPad, and importing audio needs Plus on all of them. On an iPhone without Apple Intelligence, Plus cannot make study packs. There it adds importing audio, and it opens the small-group guide and the devotional reminders for study packs made on your other devices. The app tells you this before you buy. Everything listed as free above is free on every device.
How do I cancel?
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone (not the app's own settings).
- Tap your name at the top.
- Tap Subscriptions, then After Sunday.
- Tap Cancel Subscription.
You can also get there from the app: Settings → Plus → Manage subscription.
Deleting the app does not cancel. After you cancel, Plus stays on until the end of the period you paid for. To avoid being charged after a free trial, cancel at least 24 hours before it ends.
What happens to my study packs if I cancel?
They stay. Everything you already made remains readable and can be exported. You only need Plus to make new ones.
How do I get a refund?
Apple handles refunds. Go to https://reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, and choose the purchase.
I paid, but Plus is not on
Open the app's Settings → Plus → Restore Purchases. Make sure the iPhone is signed in to the Apple Account that made the purchase.
I have a code from my church
Open the app's Settings → Plus → Redeem Code.
Can my family use my Plus?
The yearly plan works with Apple's Family Sharing. The monthly plan does not.
Privacy and your data
Is my recording uploaded anywhere?
No. Recordings stay on the device that made them. The transcript and the study pack are made on the device too. Nothing you record or write is sent to us, and we run no server for the app. See the Privacy Policy: https://leoappsstudio.com/after-sunday/privacy
How do I delete my data?
- One sermon: in the Sermons tab, press and hold the sermon and choose Delete. Its audio, transcript, notes, photos and verses are removed, on your other devices too.
- Everything: the app's Settings → Privacy → Delete all data. This removes every sermon, every Bible highlight and note, and every folder. It removes them on the device and in your iCloud, and resets the app's settings.
Deleting the app is not enough: it leaves your iCloud copy. If you recorded on more than one device, delete on each one. A group guide or a PDF that you already sent to someone is outside the app and is not deleted.
How do I turn off usage statistics?
They are off unless you turned them on. The switch is in the app's Settings → Privacy → Share anonymous usage data.
How do I get a copy of everything?
The app's Settings → Privacy → Export all data. You get one zip file with a PDF and a text file for each sermon, and a file with your Bible highlights and notes. Audio is included only if you turn on Include audio, and only audio that is on that device.
Why don't I see my sermons on my iPad?
Both devices must be signed in to the same Apple Account with iCloud on. Text appears on the other device after a short while. The audio stays on the device that recorded it.
Recording in church
Is it OK to record in church?
Ask if you are not sure. Record only where your church allows it.
- An open worship service is generally fine to record for your own notes.
- A small group, a prayer meeting or a private conversation is different. Ask everyone first. Some states require everyone's consent before a conversation is recorded.
- Sharing. A sermon usually belongs to the church. Share a full transcript only if your church allows it. A group guide contains a summary and questions, never the recording or the full transcript.
Still stuck?
Write to patrick@leoappsstudio.com. It helps to include a diagnostics report: in the app, Settings → Help → Contact support → Prepare a diagnostics report, then share it with your message. The report holds app and system versions, counts, sizes and error codes. It holds no titles, names, notes or transcript text.
