Sureday Help & FAQ
Getting started
What does Sureday do?
Sureday answers one question in about a second: "Did I take it?" It keeps a simple record of every dose — what was taken, when, and by whom — for you and everyone at home. Reminders help, but the record is the point: it prevents both missed doses and double doses.
How do I set it up?
The first time you open Sureday, three short screens walk you through it: enter who takes the medication, add the first medication and pick a time, then choose whether to turn on reminders. You can add more people and medications any time from the Medications tab.
Is there a tour of the app?
Yes. A short interactive tour appears after setup — it shows Today, how to log and fix doses, double-dose protection, schedules, reminders, widgets, Siri, History and family sharing, using pretend data you can tap. Replay it anytime from Settings → Help → Take the app tour.
I was invited to a family's household. What do I do?
On the setup screen, tap I was invited to a family's household, enter your name, then open the invitation link you received in Messages or Mail and choose Open in Sureday. The household's medications appear on Today, usually within a minute. Joining is free.
People and medications
How do I add a person?
Settings → People → Add person, or tap Add person while adding a medication. Give them a name, and optionally an emoji and a color so they're easy to spot. Your plan sets how many people you can track: 1, 2, 3 or 4 (see Subscription and pricing). To add someone beyond your plan, Sureday offers the next plan up.
How do I add or edit a medication?
Medications tab → + (or Add medication for … under a person). Choose who it's for, type the name and dosage (for example "500 mg, 1 tablet"), pick when it's taken, and tap Save. Tap any medication later to change it.
What does "Archive" do?
Archiving a medication (or a person) removes it from Today and stops its reminders, but keeps all of its history. Use it when a course ends or a medication is stopped.
Does Sureday check drug interactions or dosages?
No. Sureday is an organizational tool, not a medical device, and doesn't give medical advice. Always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions.
Schedules
What kinds of schedules can I set?
In a medication, go to How often → Repeats:
- Every day — most daily medications.
- Specific days of the week — for example Mon, Wed and Fri.
- Times a week (any days) — a weekly goal with no fixed days, for example "3 times a week".
- Every few days — every other day, every 3 days, and so on (counted from a start date).
- Every few weeks — for example every 2 weeks on Tuesday.
- Once a month — for example on the 1st. If you pick the 31st, shorter months use their last day.
- On/off cycle — for example 21 days on, 7 days off (counted from a start date).
You can also turn on Take as needed for medications with no schedule.
How do I take a medication several times a day?
Add more than one time under When: tap Morning / Noon / Evening / Night, Other time, or Several times a day… for ready-made options — twice a day, 3 or 4 times a day, or every 4, 6, 8 or 12 hours starting from your first time. Each time becomes its own dose on Today.
How does a course with an end date work?
Under Course, turn on End date (and Start date if needed). Doses are scheduled on every day from the start to the end, both days included, then stop automatically.
How does "Times a week (any days)" work?
Log it on whichever days you take it. Today shows your progress ("2 of 3 this week") and turns amber if every remaining day is needed to stay on track. You get a reminder at your chosen time only on days you haven't taken it, and reminders stop once the week's goal is met. Weeks start on the first day of the week for your region.
What happens if I change a schedule?
Past doses stay exactly as they were. The new schedule applies from now on. A dose you already took today still counts even if you moved its time.
What if I travel to another time zone?
Schedules follow the local clock: an 8:00 AM dose is due at 8:00 AM wherever you are. A dose taken before you flew still counts for that day.
Logging doses
How do I log a dose?
On Today, tap Took it. That's it — the dose shows as Taken with the time. A 5-second Undo appears in case you tapped by mistake.
Can I log without opening the app?
Yes:
- Lock Screen: long-press the reminder and tap Took it.
- Widget: tap Took it on the Sureday widget.
- Siri: "Log my meds in Sureday" or "Log my noon meds in Sureday".
- NFC tag: tap your iPhone on a sticker on the bottle (see below).
I took it late / at a different time. How do I record that?
If the dose shows Missed, tap Took it — it's recorded with the current time. To enter an earlier time, swipe left on the dose and tap Other time. To fix the time of a dose you already logged, tap the Taken badge and change it.
How do I skip a dose?
Swipe left on the dose and tap Skip, or tap Skip on the reminder. Skipped doses aren't counted as missed.
I logged a dose by mistake.
Tap the dose's Taken badge → Mark as not taken, then confirm. You can also delete any dose in History.
What are "as needed" medications?
Medications with no schedule, like a pain reliever. They appear under As needed on Today with the last time taken. Set a minimum time between doses and Sureday tells you when it's safe to take the next one.
What is "Last night" on Today?
Shortly after midnight, a late dose from the previous evening (for example 11:30 PM) stays visible so you can still log it or see that it was taken.
Double-dose protection
What stops me from taking a dose twice?
Each dose can be acknowledged once. After you tap Took it, the button is replaced by Taken and the time. If anyone tries to log that medication again — from the app, History, Siri, a widget, the Lock Screen or an NFC tag — Sureday stops and explains, for example:
"Metformin is already taken. It's scheduled once a day, and today's dose was already logged at 8:04 AM by Priya."
The same happens when all of a day's doses are done (for example both doses of a twice-a-day medication), when a minimum time between doses hasn't passed, or when a weekly goal is already met.
What if I really do need an extra dose?
In the app, the alert offers Log extra dose — only do this if your doctor or pharmacist told you to. From the Lock Screen, a widget or an NFC tag, Sureday never adds an extra dose; it sends a short notice instead ("Nothing was added. Open Sureday to log an extra dose.").
What if two people log the same dose at the same time?
Both records are kept, and the dose shows "Logged 2 times" with each person and time, so you can see a possible double dose.
Reminders
How do reminders work?
You get one reminder per dose time, listing everything due then (for example "Noon: Metformin and Vitamin D"). From the reminder you can tap Took it, Snooze 15 min or Skip. As soon as a dose is logged anywhere, its reminder disappears.
I'm not getting reminders.
- Check Settings app → Notifications → Sureday is allowed. Sureday shows a banner on Today if reminders are off.
- In Sureday: Settings → Whose reminders on this iPhone — make sure the person is turned on.
- As-needed medications don't send reminders.
- Open Sureday once; it refreshes the next two days of reminders.
What is "Remind again if not taken"?
A follow-up reminder if a dose still isn't logged after a set time (30 minutes by default). Change it in Settings → Reminders. Weekly-goal medications don't get follow-ups.
When does a dose count as "Missed"?
A dose is Due from its scheduled time until the grace period passes (60 minutes by default), then shows Missed. You can still log it late. Change the grace period in Settings → Mark missed after.
Can someone else get reminders for their own medications on their phone?
Yes. With household sharing, each phone chooses whose reminders it shows (Settings → Whose reminders on this iPhone). Turn a person off on your phone if they get reminders on theirs.
What is the caregiver nudge?
For people whose reminders are off on your phone, Sureday can alert you if their dose still isn't logged some time after it was due (Settings → Whose reminders on this iPhone → Alert me if a dose is overdue). It's cancelled as soon as their dose syncs.
Widgets, Siri and NFC
How do I add the widget?
Touch and hold your Home Screen or Lock Screen → Edit → Add Widget → Sureday. Home Screen widgets show the latest dose time and a Took it button; Lock Screen widgets show "Noon ✓ 12:04" or "Noon · not taken". Tap and hold a widget → Edit Widget to show one person only.
What can I ask Siri?
- "Log my meds in Sureday" / "Log my noon meds in Sureday"
- "Did I take my noon meds in Sureday?"
- "When is my next dose in Sureday?"
These work right away, without setup, and also appear in the Shortcuts app.
How do I log with an NFC sticker?
Set it up once per bottle, in two parts.
Make the shortcut
- Open the Shortcuts app → Shortcuts tab → +.
- In Search Actions, type Log Medication and tap it.
- It reads "Log Medication as taken". Tap the blue word Medication and pick one.
- Tap the name at the top → Rename (for example "Log Metformin"), then tap back to save.
Attach it to the sticker
- Put an NFC sticker (NTAG213 or similar) on the bottle or pill organizer.
- Shortcuts → Automation tab → + → NFC → Scan, and hold the top of your iPhone near the sticker. Name it and tap Done.
- Choose Run Immediately → Next → New Blank Automation → Add Action → Run Shortcut, and pick your "Log Metformin" shortcut. Tap Done.
Now tap your iPhone on the sticker after taking the dose. You'll get a "Metformin logged" notification. If it was already logged, nothing is added and you're told why.
Don't see Log Medication or your medications? Open Sureday once, make sure the medication is on the Medications tab, then close and reopen Shortcuts.
History
How do I see past doses?
Open History, pick a day from the week strip (arrows move by week; the calendar button jumps to any date). Each day shows what was taken, skipped or missed, and when. Use the filter button to show one person.
Can I edit or delete past doses?
Yes. Tap a dose to change its time or mark it as not taken. As-needed and extra doses are listed under As-needed and extra doses; tap one to edit or delete it.
Sharing with family
How does family sharing work?
Your household — people, medications, schedules and every logged dose — is stored in your iCloud. When you invite someone, Apple's iCloud gives their Apple ID access to that one household. When anyone logs a dose, it syncs to every phone within seconds and the reminder for that dose goes away on all of them. Each phone keeps its own settings (your name, whose reminders it shows).
Do family members need the same iCloud account?
No. Each person keeps their own Apple ID. That's exactly what sharing is for. (If you use one Apple ID on two of your own devices, those sync automatically without an invitation.)
How do I invite someone?
Settings → Share with family → Invite someone, then send the link by Messages or Mail. They install Sureday for free and tap the link. Both of you need to be signed in to iCloud.
Does the person I invite need a subscription?
No. Joining a shared household is free. Only the person who shares needs a subscription.
How does syncing work?
Every phone keeps a full copy, so Sureday works offline. Logs are uploaded to iCloud when you're online, and iCloud notifies the other phones, which download them — usually within seconds. Doses are only ever added, never overwritten, so nothing is lost if two people log at once. "Missed" is never stored; each phone works it out from what was logged, so phones can't disagree.
How do I remove someone or stop sharing?
Settings → Share with family → Invite or manage people. You can remove a person or stop sharing entirely. Their copy of the household is removed from their phone; your data is unaffected. Someone who joined can leave from the same screen.
Can I be in more than one household?
Each iPhone works with one household at a time. If you accept an invitation to another household, new people you add go into that one.
Is there a limit on how many people?
Up to 4 people in a household. The household owner's plan sets the number (1, 2, 3 or 4), and everyone who joins the shared household uses that plan for free. Up to 100 family members' phones can join one shared household (Apple's iCloud limit).
Can someone without an iPhone see the doses?
They can't join the household, but you can add them as a person and log their doses yourself, or send them the dose history as a spreadsheet (see Export).
Your data: export and import
How do I back up my data?
Settings → Your data → Export & import → Back up all data (.json). Save it to Files or send it to yourself. It contains people, medications, schedules and every logged dose.
How do I get a spreadsheet of doses for my doctor?
Settings → Your data → Export & import → Dose history for a spreadsheet (.csv). It opens in Numbers or Excel, with date, time, person, medication, dosage, status and who logged it.
How do I restore or move my data to a new phone?
Install Sureday, then Settings → Your data → Export & import → Import a backup… and choose your .json file. Sureday shows what will be added before doing anything. Importing adds what's missing and updates what's already there; it never deletes anything, and importing the same file twice doesn't create duplicates. (If you use iCloud, your data also comes back automatically when you sign in on a new iPhone.)
Subscription and pricing
How much does Sureday cost?
Sureday is free to download and starts with a 7-day free trial. After the trial it's a yearly subscription, priced by how many people you track:
- 1 person: $9.99 per year
- 2 people: $14.99 per year
- 3 people: $19.99 per year
- 4 people: $24.99 per year
Every plan includes everything: unlimited medications, reminders, Lock Screen logging, widgets, Siri, NFC tags, history, export and sharing with family. Prices are in US dollars; the App Store shows the price in your currency.
How does the free trial work?
Choose a plan and tap Start free trial. You won't be charged for 7 days. If you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, you pay nothing. The trial is once per Apple Account.
How do I cancel or change my plan?
Settings → Subscription → Manage subscription (or the Settings app → your name → Subscriptions). You can cancel anytime; Sureday keeps working until the end of the period you paid for. To track more people, tap Add more people and pick a bigger plan; Apple credits what's left of your current plan.
What happens if my subscription ends?
Your data stays on your iPhone and in iCloud, but Sureday locks and reminders pause until you subscribe again. Nothing is deleted.
Do my family members have to pay?
No. People who join your shared household use your plan for free. Subscriptions also work with Apple Family Sharing, so members of your Apple family group can use your plan on their own household too.
I subscribed but Sureday is still locked.
On the subscription screen, tap Restore purchases, signed in with the Apple Account that subscribed. If a parent must approve purchases ("Ask to Buy"), Sureday unlocks automatically once they approve.
What happens to people I added if I move to a smaller plan?
Nothing is removed. Your plan only limits adding new people.
I was invited to a household that's full. Can I add someone?
Members use the owner's plan. If the household is full, ask the person who shared it to move to a bigger plan.
Privacy
Does Sureday collect my data?
No. There are no accounts, ads, analytics or tracking. Your data is stored on your iPhone and, if you use sharing or iCloud, in your own iCloud account. Leo Apps Studio can't see it. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Is exported data private?
Exported files contain your medication information. Only share them with people you trust.
Troubleshooting
A dose I logged on another phone isn't showing.
Make sure both phones are online and signed in to iCloud, then open Sureday on both. Syncing usually takes seconds but can take longer on a poor connection or in Low Power Mode.
The widget shows old information.
Open Sureday once; widgets refresh whenever anything is logged. If it still looks wrong, remove the widget and add it again.
How do I contact support?
